The Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force Mr. Olubukola Abe has disclosed that no fewer than 1,920 miscreants have been arrested and successfully prosecuted in the law courts during the last 3rd quarter of year 2015 by the Agency Addressing the Press today, during the Monthly Interactive Session with Media in his office, Mr. Abe Stated that 2,127 were initially arrested out of which 162 were screened out while 55 were discharged in accordance with the law and 1,920 were convicted for various offences. He stated that the agency functions was not limited to arrest of miscreants alone adding that over 1,720 motorcyclists plying restricted routes across the state were equally arrested and have their motorc ycles confiscated in accordance to the Lagos State Road traffic Laws of 2012. He observed that the agency activities are being tinted towards making sure of secured and tidy environment where social economic development can thrive. He emphasized that street trading is prohibited across the state and that most traffic being experienced are the direct consequence of activities of these street traders who indiscriminately display their wares on the road or sells to motorists on the high ways. He urged motorists to desist from patronizing street traders in order to reduce human hours being wasted on our roads.
An N2.4 million bribery scam is rocking the Delta State House of Assembly. SaharaReporters learned that the Speaker, Monday Igbuya, and other members of the State House of Assembly allegedly collected N200,000 bribes from the twelve commissioner nominees forwarded by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for “screening.” Confiding in a SaharaReporters correspondent, a senior management staff person of the State’s House of Assembly who did not want to be named disclosed that one of the commissioner nominees told him in confidence how the twelve nominees’ arms were twisted to pay N200,000 each. The ultimatum was that without the N200,000 none of them would be cleared by the lawmakers. However, the source said, “If you were around during their screening on the floor of the House, you would have noticed that all the nominees were only told to take a bow” and to go.
